Hardy mums/Chrysanthemum/Samanthi Poo-My Garden Diva

Always had a crush on flowers!Especially for the string of Jasmine flowers. Hope all girls do..

Hardy mums!
Was surprised to see different shades of  hardy mums(Garden mums) in a nearby farm..Ever since the fall started, the farm had different colours, shades, sizes and shapes of Hardy mums. Some were fully bloomed and some  were partially bloomed.. Not too expensive(3 for 10 dollars).

I usually find it difficult  to hunt  flowers for Pooja during festivals in NJ. Was super excited as I got these during Navrathri Pooja. Yellow Samanthi Poo is always the focus of attraction in the garlands offered to God because of its bright and shiny shades.

Bit disappointed to know that these decorative pots can't be perennial and I have to plant it in a yard to have it in a long run. Though got it and decorated my home garden with these pots.

Flowers are definitely refreshing and amazing to body and soul. Watering them and watching them bloom are my recent recreation!

Navrathri in New Jersey-Pooja and offerings

Navrathri or Nine nights festival celebrated to worship goddess Durga for celebration of the destruction of evil. The Devi, the goddess is worshipped on these nine nights and ten days.

These 9 days had always been fun in childhood as we could visit some neighbourhood Golus,  where they give either Sundal or snacks. Some houses give gifts too. This year, there was a reversal in role as I had to prepare these sundals on my own.. All 9 days I prepared one of those varieties of Sundal/ Payasam to offer the goddess. It is believed that the goddess remains extremely happy on all these 9 days and offers all her blessings to the devotees.

Day1: Black channa Sunda
Day 2:Green Gram sundal
Day3:Sweet split green gram
Day 4:Pal Payasam
Day 5:Masala Vada
Day 6:Peas Sundal
Day7:Puliogare
Day 8:Split green gram sundal
Day 9:Channa dhal sundal
Day9 was the favourite in my childhood as it is the Saraswathi Pooja where we keep all the books and equipments, machines to Pooja and worship. So I dint have to study the whole day..

Day10:Vijayadasami.. I did Semiya Payasam.
Day 10 Finished  the prayers, by starting new tasks..

Divine Nine days!
